Jamie Kidwell is the Blue and Gray Pickers newest member. Joining the band in 2000, he has added his talents and progressive style to the Blue and Gray Pickers repertoire creating an impressive new sound for this bluegrass group. Jamie started playing at the age of 15 after going to a local music store and buying his first banjo for $150. (He later traded that banjo in on his first guitar...in which they gave him $15 trade in value : ) To further develop his skills, Jamie attended South Plains College in Levelland Texas, and studied under Alan Munde. From there, his musical career has blossomed. He was hired by a country music show in Fiesta Texas, and went on to win the title of "Kansas State Banjo Champion" in 1996. These are only a few of Jamie's music accomplishments. Jamie later married Debbie Collins, and the two of them together create a sound that cannot be described. Come on out to see the Blue and Gray Pickers, and watch in amazement as Jamie lights up the strings on his Gibson 800 model 5-string banjo. |
